Bailey A. Buchan

Hello, my name is Bailey Buchan! I am a junior at Keene State College studying Early Childhood Education and History. I am from Norwich Connecticut and have lived there my whole life. I have always had a passion for research and history, especially around medical or environmental history. A fun fact about me is that I have 6 cats, their names are Princess, Nala, Captain, Biggie, Stubs, Frayja

The Civil War is mostly about discussing military, political, or cultural issues. However, in my paper, I will be discussing another way to look at the Civil War, the environment. Disease, agriculture, animals, weather, and terrain all have to do with Environmental History. That is the focus of this paper: how does the environment play a role in the Civil War? I will investigate how the environment took a toll on the South and how that toll affected the South’s loss.
