Union Prisoners at Salisbury, N.C

Hello! My name is Jesse Guerra. I am currently a Junior at Keene State College. I am double majoring in Secondary-Education, as well as United States History! I hope to apply for the graduate program here as well to obtain my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I was born in Pointe-Claire, Quebec, Canada, and I currently live in Rindge, New Hampshire! My main hobbies are watching/playing/coaching baseball and hockey, as well as enjoying my leisure time with my family, as well as watching Netflix and sleeping!

For the purposes of this class, my research will be on how the Civil War spread the game of baseball to make it “America’s pastime.” With the many secondary sources, as well as the primary sources I have provided, the evidence shows that not only did the Civil War spread baseball throughout the nation, but in a way, it re-united the nation. By making national leagues and such, the game of baseball was open to any American baseball club, whether it was from the former Confederate states or the Union states. The events that occurred before, during, and after the Civil War, dealing with baseball, shows how effective it was, as well as having no other sports to compete against besides cricket.
